OUR STORIE
RATED THE BEST ARGENTINIAN RESTAURANT IN ITALY BY LEADING FOOD CRITICS AND THE PUBLIC
Owners Giorgio Beretta and Marlene Gomes, a Brazilian with an Argentinian heart, opened their restaurant in Via Altaguardia, set between the Duomo and the Navigli district in Milan, in 2000, and ran it like they were welcoming friends into their home.
Almost immediately, the Don Juan became the go-to place in the city for fine dining.
Meat has always taken centre stage, as the Gaucho tradition dictates.
As time passed, though, Marlene turned her female touch to other flavours, venturing into new frontiers in taste, making sure the restaurant served non-meat eaters equally well.
Don Juan was also the first restaurant to take a gamble on an open kitchen: the huge grill, like a great sun around which everything rotates, visible from the street and from every corner of the room, is the kingdom of Rodrigo Rivarola who, along with a team of young chefs, is the heart and soul of the Don Juan.
Last but not least, the wine cellar offers a sublime selection of carefully-picked Argentinian wines and an equally tantalizing Italian list.
Don Juan will take you on a journey into Argentinian cuisine every evening.
E dulcis in fundo c’è la cantina: sublime per ricerca di vini sul territorio argentino,
ma anche italiano.
Don Juan allestisce ogni sera un viaggio nel mondo della cucina argentina.
THANKS
A special thank you to all our friends in Argentina. Mothers, grandmothers, children and wives of our staff who, despite suffering for the distance, can always stimulate us, giving us the secrets of typical cuisine and family recipes (chimichurri sauce, criolla, budin de pan etc.).
At Mariano Risiglioni of Rosario.
To Marquito's parents (who will always be in our hearts).
To the old Parrilleros sages native to the Pampas (for their precious advice).
To the press that always speaks of us through prizes and criticism, with full respect for our work. But above all, thank you to our customers for whom we owe all our success.
